The Segway RMP is an extremely reliable and customizable
transportation device that has a maximum speed of 18 miles per hour
and can carry a maximum payload of up to 400 pounds.
With top speeds slightly over
12 mph, Segway Personal Transporters (PTs) allow Explosive Ordinance
Disposal (EOD) team members, wearing bomb suits that weigh almost 70
pounds, to get to potentially dangerous devices in less time and
with less effort than if they were walking. They are currently in
use with the U.S. armed services as well as state and local EOD
teams throughout the United States.
